NO PET POLICY:  We do have a no pet policy.  We love animals (we have 2 cats at home), but some guests are allergic to dogs and/or cats, and some are actually afraid of dogs.  Sorry we can’t accommodate you, but if you ever travel without your beloved pet, we hope you will consider staying with us.

Lodging Philosophy

We live our lives in our bodies, and so we need to pace ourselves physically, emotionally, and spiritually. The lodging rooms are designed to promote this kind of complex care of ourselves and simultaneously to assure everyone’s rest, comfort, and peace. The rooms are individually climate-controlled to suit personal comfort, and they suffuse lodgers with a sense of place through natural and pastoral framed wall art created by local artists. A strong sense of place comforts the body but also soothes the emotions and nourishes the spirit – adds water to one’s well, a theologian once explained. And so other room items strengthen the sense of place. Walnut floors add a natural warmth to the rooms, and the night tables, writing desks, towel racks, and more – all handcrafted on the premises from black walnut trees harvested nearby – contribute an unmistakable sense of place to the rooms. So strong is the sense of place that the rooms feel like home away from home.

Our Promise: We welcome everyone into our home, and we respect and honor everyone’s unique talents and differences. Your stay with us will rest you, rejuvenate you, and strengthen you.  Our motto is, “Unplug and Recharge.”

About The Walker House

Carved into the same hillside rock from which mineral ore was first discovered and mined in the 1820s, the Walker House (1836) stands proud as one of the world’s treasures.  It includes two art galleries, an authentic Cornish Pub (with two caves), and numerous interior stone walls and other surprises. You can stand on the second story deck and listen to the gentle gurgling sounds of Brewery Creek, or take a relaxing walk on the hiking trail in front of the House.  At the end of the day, you can enjoy an ice cream cone, hot fudge sundae, or root beer float from our Ice Cream Shoppe, or sip on an award-winning micro-brewed beer or gold medal wine in the Pub or outside flower garden.  And your car is always “by the door” with the free parking in front of the House.

BATHROOMS

Bathrooms lock from the inside for your privacy. The Walker House features 3 bathrooms on the third floor, and 2 bathrooms and 2 restrooms on the second floor. Four of the 5 bathrooms include showers and full tubs for hot bubble baths; a fifth bathroom includes a large walk-in shower.  Amenities include a large mirror, hair dryer, two-sided mirror, original art on the walls, night light, and shelves filled with emergency supplies like shampoo, toothpaste, bandaids, and so on.

LAUNDRY

Guests may use the Laundromat on High Street (5 minutes walking distance), which is open 7 days a week.
