<span style=”font-size: 16px;”</span>During the first 10 years of their married life, Kathy and Dan lived in 12 different apartments in 3 different countries. They also traveled throughout the Western world. They understand the exhilaration of travel, the rapid succession of exciting new places, peoples, and cultures. They also know travel requires that family and home be left behind, leading at times to profound dislocation and alienation.
<span style=”font-size: 16px;”</span>Every detail at the Walker House attempts to counter the alienation associated with travel. The extreme beauty of the landscaping, the Walker House itself, and the people inside the House serve as a “rooting” mechanism, where guests can feel so comfortable and “at home” that they grow temporary roots during their stay. Indeed, the Walker House is striving to become for guests the family away from family and the home away from home.
