The First Floor

Cut stone and millennia-old bedrock form half of the walls and all of the three caves on the first floor.  Stone masons cut the first floor out of solid rock, which radiates a constant 55 degrees Fahrenheit (cooling the spaces in summer and warming them in winter).  Stone and rock may unite the spaces, but the rooms serve completely different formal functions—the Pub celebrates the Cornish past, the Gallery highlights extreme beauty, and the Lobby, as the What-To-Do-Room, entertains guests.
