The August 4, 2012 Gallery Night featured multiple events—free root beer floats in the renovated and rejuvenated Cornish Pub (the root beer was homemade by local artisan Jeff Donaghue, owner of the Brewery Creek Inn and Pub in Mineral Point), the large landscape photography of Randy Larson in the Main Gallery, the farm animal paintings of Pam Ruschman in the Stairway Gallery, the landscape photography of Nick Bristol in the Lodging Gallery, and self-guided tours of 70% of the Walker House. Between 500-700 people enjoyed the root beer floats, art, and the House on this beautiful night. The images below serve as reminders of the fun and magic of the evening.
The June 2, 2012 Gallery Night featured the grand opening of the Main Gallery with the works of large landscape photographer Randy Larson. Six hundred visitors feasted not only on Randy’s stunning art but also on homemade fruit pies, cookies, and ice cream, courtesy of friends of the Walker House. The images below give a sense of the excitement and fun of the evening.
Three cousins, Tyler, Derek, Jonathan, play their violins and trumpet to the pleasure of all the guests. Watch them play Twinkle Twinkle, Jingle Bells, Good King, and Ode to Joy!
On February 16, 2013, Dr. Mark and Judy Bishop led a 6-hour retreat at the Walker House that helped participants understand how toxic thoughts and behaviors create chaos in their bodies down to the molecular level, how they can curb these thoughts and behaviors, and how they can refashion their brain and begin the process to recreate themselves.
A family physician for 35 years, Dr. Bishop was named the Wisconsin Family Physician of the Year in 1996. In addition to his medical training and clinical practice, he has studied extensively neuroscience, psychology, and the Christian faith. His presentation weaved case studies, personal testimony, humor, and deep Christian faith with science, common sense, and hands-on experiences for participants.
The April 6, 2013 Gallery Night at the Walker House featured the large landscape photography of Randy Larson, wood sculptures by award-winning woodcarver, John Sharp, fabric and coffee cup art by Courtney Henson, award-winning e-book design by artist and author Jennifer Sharp, and cake artistry by award-winning baker, Diane Lefebvre. From 8:00-9:00, the beautiful and delicious cakes were cut and eaten by delighted guests!
